Here’s a bit of fun for a dark winter’s night. Find out your real theological position here! (thanks to Hopeful Amphibian for the link)
I have to say I’m quite pleased with mine!!!
You scored as Emergent/Postmodern
You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don’t think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

I did wonder where I keep my 32% Charismatic/Pentecostal side hidden but the rest seems to be about right!
Go on, have a go and we can compare worldviews!!!

I had to do the quiz again because I couldn’t remember what I got the first time … d’oh! It’s an intersting result, much the same as the first. I’m guessin it must be right or is it? How accurate is this d’you think? I’m not so sure that I feel “alienated” from the older church because there are many things that I like about it and yes I’m admitting that on a public forum!
As far as the other categories go, I reckon some investigation and research is in order. I don’t know what they are (with the exception of RC of course!).
Now Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan sounds interesting … let’s google it!
You scored as Classical Liberal.
You are a classical liberal. You are skeptical about much of the historicity of the Bible, and the most important thing Jesus has done is to set us a good moral example that we are to follow. Doctrines like the trinity and the incarnation are speculative and not really important, and in the face of science and philosophy the surest way we can be certain about God is by our inner awareness of him. Discipleship is expressed by good moral behaviour, but inward religious feeling is most important.

I had to giggle, like Hospital Corners, I had to take it again because I didn’t copy and paste it the first time! I couldn’t remember what it said about Classical Liberals. I did make note of the statistical breakdown the first time and took it two days apart. I actually had a tie breaker between Classical Libral and Emergent/Postmodern both times. I scored exactly the same, complete with tie breaker questions, between the two I scored highest on, but apparently am a little more Neo Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Reformed Evangelical and Fundamentalist today.
I think except for the phrase about Doctrines about the trinity and incarnation being speculative and “not really important”, I agree with this assessment of my theology.
wow! Rose, it seems you are even more of a cynic than I am. That’s pretty good going!
Hospital Corners and I seem well matched…
Cynical? Who me? I don’t wonder if that is a personal thing or a cultural thing. Or perhaps the different religious traditions we were raised in……
I agree, you and Hospital Corners are very well matched!
Actually, I meant to say that I wonder if that is a personal or cultural thing, not that I don’t wonder, ooops!
Couldn’t resist and now I’m just confused:
You are neo-orthodox. You reject the human-centredness and scepticism of liberal theology, but neither do you go to the other extreme and make the Bible the central issue for faith. You believe that Christ is God’s most important revelation to humanity, and the Trinity is hugely important in your theology. The Bible is also important because it points us to the revelation of Christ. You are influenced by Karl Barth and P T Forsyth.

Thanks for posting John! Why are you confused? Did you think you would be something else? To be honest it kind of sounds like you…
I guess it was the ‘labels’. I’ve just read up on neo-Orthodox and I have to confess, it seems to be a fair reflection of my theology.
Does this mean I can laugh off those accusations of fundamentalism now?
JohnO, I don’t think anyone who knows you would ever call you a fundementalist… anymore! LOL. That’s what a liberal arts education does to you!
Seems John and I have something in common! ‘Cause I scored:
Neo orthodox.

Roman Catholic 68% – what? I said no to the Pope!
Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan 68% – see I do have some evangelical tendancies
Charismatic/Pentecostal 43% – doubt if I will ever speak in tongues!
Modern Liberal 36% – now I am confused!
Reformed Evangelical 29% – hehehe!
