    I’m glad this has become one of your favourite books.  How could it not.  I’m a bit hesitant about the movie because in my mind I’ve created the perfect picture of Bruno and his friend Shmuel and would hate to have that shattered.  But then again … maybe it’ll be just as I imagine it.

    DISTRESSING! Have you seen the film yet? Hadn’t read the book first…but…..DISTRESSING!

    The book is stunning (in all the senses of that word).  It’s written very simply but that just adds to the power of the story.  The end is just heartbreaking.  I haven’t seen the film yet and, like Avril, I’m not sure I want to because it might take away the images I have from the book.
