Training stats for this week are 45.13km in 4:31:12 using 3639 calories.

Today’s long run was 1hour 40 minutes and felt like forever!  I was trying to run at the bottom of the green zone but I don’t seem able to run at a steady pace!

My fundraising has reached £575 which is over halfway to my goal of raising £1,000 for Christian Aid.  A big thank you to everyone who has donated and please, if you can, help out by texting STEW72 to 70070 or visiting www.justgiving.com/stewartcutler to donate.

Sorry for the late post… It’s been a busy week.  Good, but busy.  Fitting in the runs has been a struggle but I’ve managed most of them (I missed the short run on Thursday).

I’m almost halfway though!

My ‘running week’ ends on a Monday with the long run.  This week my training has changed a little.  My long run was 70 minutes and it looks as though as this increases the other runs will adjust so I’m not running too far over the week.

I’ve broken some barriers today.  I’ve run just over 250km burning 20,000 calories.

Each Monday I get an email from miCoach telling me what’s in store for the week:

Monday 6 June 2011
RUN A RACE — ½ MARATHON – 44
01:10:00
Long Run.. Relax and enjoy this longer slow run. Save your speed for the Yellow Zone in future workouts.

Wednesday 8 June 2011
RUN A RACE — ½ MARATHON – 45
00:40:00
Green Run.. Use this run to clear your head and relax your body. Breathe, cruise, daydream.

Thursday 9 June 2011
RUN A RACE — ½ MARATHON – 46
00:25:00
Green Run.. Relax and enjoy.

Friday 10 June 2011
RUN A RACE — ½ MARATHON – 47
00:50:00
Fartlek Yellow Intervals.. These short Yellows can be run fast. Have fun and go by feel. Don’t force a specific speed, just let your body loose and run!

Sunday 12 June 2011
RUN A RACE — ½ MARATHON – 48
00:30:00
Green Run.. A nice, relaxing run. Focus on your breath and smooth, easy strides.

As always, thanks for your support, particularly if you have been kind enough to sponsor me.  I’m running for Christian Aid.  You can support the by visiting my JustGiving page.

I’m a third of the way through my training for my half marathon in September in aid of Christian Aid.

Here are the stats:

So far I’ve run 34 times.

I missed 3 runs when we were on holiday.

I’ve run 205.97km in 20 hours 13 minutes and 05 seconds.

I’ve used 16577 calories.

And all so I can run 21km.

You can help me to help Christian Aid change the lives of some of the poorest people in some of the most difficult places to live in the world by sponsoring my run at JustGiving/stewartcutler

From Christian Aid:

A soldier explains why he decided to speak up about his service in the occupied Palestinian territory.

In May 2011, Christian Aid partner Breaking the Silence launched a video project.

The project is made up of video material gathered during interviews with 22 soldiers who have decided to testify with their faces unmasked, and their names revealed.

This week has been hard going on the training front.  Too many late nights (3.30am on election night!) and too much birthday cake but I got the runs done.

Wednesday – short run but very heavy legs.  I’m finding the short runs after a recovery day all feel a bit heavy.

Thursday – the best day of the week. 25 minute run.

(Killer) Friday – trying a threshold run after 4 hours sleep is just silly.  Also, myCoach doesn’t like trees.  The gps signal is all over the place.  Again the nike+ sensor has me running a much more even pace.

Sunday – a nice gentle 30 minute run but again my legs felt pretty stiff and heavy.

Monday – 50 minute run.  Again the myCoach gps has my pace all over the place.  I ran along the Clyde again and the trees play havoc with the pace guide.  I’m not sure why it doesn’t correct itself when it reacquires the signal.  Odd.  Again nike+ has me at a much more even pace.

So, the numbers for the week are:

Time: 3:11:14   Distance: 32.6km  Calories: 2623

In the 5 weeks of training I’ve run 133.92km and used 10775 calories in 13 hours.  If you’d like to support my efforts to help Christian Aid then please sponsor me at http://www.justgiving.com/stewartcutler

Today is World Malaria Day, raising awareness about a disease that kills.

It is estimated that around the world 1 million people die each year from malaria.  The majority of these are children.  Christian Aid works with partners around the world to help protect people from malaria carrying mosquitoes by providing nets and medicine.

These nets cost just £3.

For £3, the price of a coffee, you could save a life.  Please help me to help Christian Aid by sponsoring my half marathon run.  Just visit http://www.justgiving.com/stewartcutler and donate.

My training has gone well this week.

Wednesday and Thursday were nice steady runs.  I’m still struggling a little with keeping my pace steady.

Wed 20 April

Thursday

(Killer) Friday

Friday is pace day.  From now on there is a big chunk of Yellow Zone on a Friday to encourage me to lengthen my stride and have my head explode!  I didn’t do well this week.  Must do better with the pace work.

Sunday

Nice 30 minute run on Sunday.

Monday

Long run day.  Upped the time to 40 minutes this week which adds a couple of kilometers.  A good 7k run today.
